Answer: definitely. Actually you can make out each drop. You can see Pillow and Insignificant as well. Check out this map of the confluence of the meadow with the Gauley river, and see if you can:

Zoom in ("+" icon, upper left) to see each drop of lost paddle, zoom out to see the Summersville dam. Right click the disclaimer to open the map frame in a larger window.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Upper G, the Gauley is running roughly from the right to the left. The meadow is going up (north), and enters the Gauley on the river left side.

Lost paddle is just left (downstream) of where the Meadow joins. If you zoom in (click "+" icon) you can see all the drops.
Pillow: look upstream (to the right) for the next major rapid (hint: it's white). You can pretty clearly see the maps on river left and right.
Insignificant: I'm not so sure about this one, so I'll let someone else comment.

If you've got a good idea for a map, email me. Personally, I'd like to see a grand canyon map, but I'm not sure I can even find the Grand Canyon on a map. Volunteers? Next article is on why the RSS feeds we offer actually are good for something.

I'll post an article soon about adding maps like the map above onto your own website (or your clubs website), if you're good with HTML you could figure it out before then. If you haven't run the Gauley before just remember the rapids are so big you can see them from space... nothing to worry about :-O.

Thanks for everybody who visited the site. It was a pleasant surprise this site got mentioned on boatertalk so soon: I'm glad nothing major broke. To give you an idea, we went from next to no daily traffic to 10000+ page downloads from a few hundred users (if the # of downloads per user seems high, it's because the map page downloads a lot of pages of data). Traffic is down to a more reasonable level now. There is a lot of little stuff that I need to fix, and I'll get to it but feel free to email me if something is really annoying, it'll help me prioritize.

Later.
